Beddingfield grad Bynum back in starting role for O's Staff Reports The Baltimore Orioles recalled former Beddingfield standout Freddie Bynum Wednesday night to take over as the team's starting shortstop. After hitting a home run in Wednesday's game for the Double-A Bowie Baysox, Bynum got the call to rejoin the parent club in time for Thursday's game against the Royals. Bynum contributed immediately in his first game back, going 2 for 4 with a run scored. Baltimore manager Dave Trembley told MLB.com that a change was in order. "To be honest with you, there have been a lot of plays that could've been made and should've been made that weren't made," Trembley said." So we gotta try something different. That's it." Bynum played six games in a rehab stint and was given the chance to start at short after the O's send Eider Torres to Triple-A Norfolk. Luis Hernandez, who has gotten most of the starts at the position, was benched. In a utlitly role last season, Bynum committed just one error in 70 games and hit .260 in 96 at-bats.
