Strickland a double winner at SNRP KENLY -- Corey Strickland's day didn't begin very well in the first of two Late Model Stock car races at Southern National Speedway Park on Sunday afternoon. After losing the lead in a spin-out on the final lap of the first NASCAR Whelen All-American 50-lap feature, Strickland bounced back by winning the second 50-lap race and ascending to the top of the points standings. Strickland won by a full straightaway-length against runner-up Sherman Davis Jr. with Doug Godsey in third. Strickland had to settle for fifth-place in the first race after leading for 44 laps. The cars of Kyle Hall and Strickland touched on the third turn of the final lap and while Strickland spun out, rookie driver Hall cruised to victory. In a release from SNRP, Hall was cited as saying the contact was inadvertent. Michael Hardin was second and Godsey third as well. Strickland displaced Ryan Rhodes atop the Late Model points leaderboard with 276 points, six more than Hall in second place. Rhodes is third with 270 points, followed by Sherman Davis Jr. (268) and Doug Godsey (239). Tom Holland earned his first win In the Bobby Murray Chevrolet GM Performance Parts Limited Late Model by leading the final 19 of 35 laps. Points leader P.J. Flowers was second, ahead of Taylor Howard in third.
In the Papa Jack's Store and Grill Street Stocks, points leader Tracy Bank's domination wore on with his third win in four races. Duane Walker was second and Joe Gates Jr. finished third. Jason Capps added to his UCARs points lead with an early pass of John Vernon, that helped Capps earn his third victory in UCARs this season. Vernon was third, behind Albert Lamont.
