No new taxes necessary

Wilson County residents will be asked to screw themselves once again on the May 6 ballot. We do not need any tax increases, and there is plenty of research to back that up.

I urge you all to look up the April 2008 Regional Brief (No. 52) provided by the John Locke Foundation think tank in Raleigh. They know Wilson County already has over $20 million in excess revenues, but have you ever heard the county comissioners mention that? This is 11 times more than the proposed tax increase would generate, so if our "regulators" were to figure out how to live within their means -- as I believe most of us are required to do -- there would be no problem. And no need to increase revenue -- from any source!

What we need are some folks who will make the decisions necessary to balance the budget.

It's called reality. No more taxes!
