Lady Vikings blank Southern Nash, 4-0

The Elm City girls soccer team defeated Southern Nash, 4-0, in its season finale Monday.

Meghan Boswell led the Lady Vikings (9-1) with three goals, while Sydney Reaves added one.

Elm City finished with nine shutouts this season.

Chargers fall in conference semis to Wake Christian

The Wilson Christian baseball team lost its conference semifinal game, 3-2, against Wake Christian on Friday.

Daniel Wilson went 1 for 3 with two RBIs. Ben taylor and Griffin Parker also went 1 for 3 for the Chargers, who led 2-0 in the first inning before allowing two in the fifth and one in the sixth.

Chris Graham took the loss, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits while striking out five. He did not allow a hit until two outs in the fourth.

Springfield pops Bucks, 8-0

The Springfield baseball team blitzed visiting Forest Hills, 8-0, on Monday.

Parker Lamm, Logan Butts and Alex Nguyen all had three hits for the Wildcats (12-0). Lamm ripped two doubles, while Butts drove home three RBIs.

Daniel Westbrook also had two hits.

Nguyen earned the win pitching with 13 strikeouts while allowing five hits.

Zach Williams took the loss for the Bucks, as Josh Issette went 3 for 4 to lead their offense.

Springfield plays again today at Elm City.

Crocker, Lady Wildcats down Forest Hills, 4-0

The host Springfield softball team defeated Forest Hills, 4-0, on Monday.

Natalie Crocker pitched a four-hitter, striking out 11 and walking none for the Lady Wildcats (10-2).

Crocker also went 3 for 3 with an inside-the-park home run, while Kaycee Stancil went 2 for 3 and Courtney Galloway went 1 for 2.

Morgan Farmer took the loss for the Lady Bucks, allowing seven hits and three walks while striking out three.

Kendal Kohout and Ashley Warren each had a hit for Forest Hills.

Springfield's next two games are on the road, travelling to Elm City today and facing Forest Hills again on Thursday.
