'96 Explosion boys finish with two victories

The Wilson Youth Soccer Association '96 Explosion Classic boys finished their spring season with a pair of victories last weekend at Gillette Athletic Complex.

The Explosion thumped Roanoke Rapids by a 6-1 count Saturday then drilled Onslow County Coastal Crew 8-1 on Sunday.

Juan Anguiano dropped in a pair of goals to start the scoring for Wilson against Roanoke Rapids before Emmanuel Guerra scored on a nice ball from Jamil Gracia just before halftime.

In the second half, Franklin Dominguez made it 4-1 on a breakaway before Christian Bullard netted a pair of goals.

Christopher Tandy and Ian West combined in goal behind a defense led by Joseph Ellis, Austin Bean and Will Benson.

In Sunday's finale, Anguiano, Guerra and Dominguez each scored two goals in the first half while Gracia added another for a 7-1 lead at the half. Anguiano and Kevin Jeffers had assists.

Tandy came out of goal for final goal of the season for the Explosion, which went 10-1-1 in its first full year of N.C. Youth Soccer Association Classic soccer. Wilson, coached by Henry Gracia and Scott Benson, outscored its opposition 49-15.

The Explosion will compete in the Wrangler Classic tournament in Greensboro during the Memorial Day weekend.
