Monday, November 17, 2008 11:20 AM Wilson should get out of ElectriCities Does ElectriCities think we are a bunch of idiots? When we continue to keep putting the same state house, state senate, county commissioners and city council elected officials back in office year after year it goes without saying. However the fact that we are idiots does not give ElectriCities the right to continue to blatantly and openly exploit that fact. After a 16 percent electric increase and an 18 percent natural gas increase, ElectriCities has the gall and audacity to ask for another 4 percent increase. I don’t know what type of fuel these guys use that they buy their energy from and extort exorbitant prices from municipalities like Wilson, but I, for one, have had enough of it. Crude oil, natural gas and coal prices have dropped like The Titanic in face of the global economic downturn. The price of crude has dropped from well over $150 a barrel to less than $65 a barrel, and even though OPEC has cut production it continues to sink. The same is true for natural gas. It’s amazing how energy companies raise prices at the drop of a hat if a hurricane may be three weeks away or if the emir of Saudi Arabia gets a pimple on his butt. Yet oil and other energy supplies drops like a rock and they are as slow as molasses, or not at all, to lower these extortion prices. The bumbling and stumbling keystone cops management style of ElectriCities offers nothing but an endless, bottomless money pit with no relief in the for foreseeable future. We need to cut our losses and get out of ElectriCities. It is a black hole money pit with no end in site. I love Wilson and it has been my home for most of my adult life. That said, if things continue to go like they are I intend to sell my home and leave this town I love so dearly. Some people say I’m crazy but I ain’t stupid. I may not always tell it like it is, but I tell it the way I perceive it to be and you never have to speculate where I stand on an issue. God bless you and God bless our great city and state. Remember all your rants come next election for city government. They are ALL complacent and looking out for their best interest. Lets scrap them all starting with Bruce and work our way down until we have fresh ideas and real people!

They think we are dumb and they can do anything they want and get away with it. That is why you need to sign onto the class action lawsuit to STOP THEM. They need to show some remorse and make millions in CUTS to their budget tomorrow. MILLIONS. Not thousands. They need to cut some salaries and get real. But I bet we will not see that so we must keep going, get rid of the board members and take them to court

Amen brother. ElectriCities is being overly supported by the likes of Bruce Rose and by all estimations he will forever lose any legacy he leaves here. His city manager is inept on this issue and parrots what the bumbling key stone cops at ElectriCities say. This was about Tilton, yes, but the entire Government Relations team with its 15 people compared to progress energy's 5 should be let go. They are worthless spenders of our money and the Drew Saunders hiring is ethically in question. Eliminate communications. Obviously we have had none. This junk they put out is worthless and hardly "Strategic". Economic Development is done locally - all they do is play golf, drop money around to win friends and take credit. That is a joke. No need for regulatory affairs, a COO, too many secretaries that are overpaid, and I am sure the support staff could use trimming. Hold essential position, essential to power agency, drop others. They are not hearing us. But if you are interested sign the Class Action Law suit information that comes your way. Or email PatG, James Protzman at BlueNC.Com

Maybe the City of Wilson should have opt to get out from ElectricCities by NOT going fiber optic. The money could have help pay them out of the contract and these foolish utility bills. I would think the concern of the citizens would come first. What has happen to WIDE AWAKE WILSON??
