William Edgar “Bill” Windham Jr., 81, of Wilson died Monday. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Evergreen Memorial Park. The Rev. Blaine Hughes will officiate.
The family will receive friends 7–9 p.m. Wednesday at the home, 1111 Courtland Drive.
He was best known by his family as “Pop” and modeled all the values of a devoted family man. Mr. Windham was a current member of Forest Hills Presbyterian Church. He was owner operator of Boykin and Southern Wholesale Grocers, was a former scoutmaster, former deacon of Covenant Presbyterian Church and former president of the N.C. Wholesalers Association.
Mr. Windham is survived by his wife of 57 years, Martha Walker Windham; a son, Scott Windham and wife, Mary, of Wilson; four grandsons, Brady Windham Jr., Robert Windham, Tyler Windbourne and Andersen Windbourne; a sister, Geraldine Cobb of North Carolina; a brother, Bob Windham of Georgia; and a son-in-law, Curt Windbourne of Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Windham Windbourne; a sister, Flossie Bateman; and a brother, Douglas Windham.
