LAKE PARK, Ga. — Thomas Grey Daniel, 85, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, died July 5, 2012, at his home in Lake Park, Ga., surrounded by his family.
Tom was born March 9, 1927 in Middlesex, to the late Leland and Maggie Daniel.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War as a medical corpsman. He worked for many years for Union Camp as a chemist in Valdosta, Ga., until his retirement. He worked at South Georgia Pecan Company for many years following his retirement. He was an active member of Park Avenue Methodist Church. He was a Master Mason and past Master of Rodgers Lodge in N.C.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Gay Warwick Daniel of Lake Park; daughters and son-in-laws, Shannon and Joe Mares of Valdosta, Ga., Margaret Ann and Troy Humbers of Homerville, Ga., and Clara and Larry Lovingood of Asheville; sisters, Lou Oneal of Atlanta and Ann Lewis Cooper of Wilson; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends; and his dog, Max.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home, 3119 W. Marion Ave., Lake Park, GA 31636 . Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Carson McLane Funeral Home, 2215 N. Patterson St., Valdosta, GA 31602.
