ELM CITY — Rudy Walston, 58, of 208 S. Branch St., passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012 at his residence.
Rudy Walston served his country and was a retired Technical Sgt. in the U.S. Air Force.
Loving memories are forever cherished by his wife, Theodoris Hinnant Walston of the home; two daughters, Tara Walston of Hampton, Va., and Alexis Hill of Wilson; one son, Isaiah Holland of Greenville; his parents, Connie Walston Sr. and Dorthean Walston of Rocky Mount; five sisters, Dianne Suggs (Angelo) of Hampton, Va., Irene Stokes (Peter) and Christanna Williams (Donnie), all of Rocky Mount; his twin, Ruby Vines (Freddie) of Ayden, Betty Jean Cannon (David) of Philadelphia, Pa.; two brothers, Grady Walston (Jean) of Raleigh, and Connie Walston Jr.,(Jean) of Rocky Mount; six uncles; six aunts; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; including special cousin, Carolyn “Jean” Summerlin.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, 1 p.m., at L.N. Forbes Original Free Will Baptist Tabernacle, 1800 Lane St. Dr. Amanda B. Jones will deliver the eulogy. Interment will take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.
A public viewing will take place Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 726 Tarboro St. SW. All other times the family will receive friends at the residence where they will also assemble one hour prior to the funeral service in preparation of the funeral procession.
