NASHVILLE — Troy Mitchell “Mickey” Davis, 59, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, June 20, 2012.
Funeral services will be conducted at Shingleton Funeral Home Chapel Sunday, 3 p.m., with the Rev. Sam Culliver officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Committal services will be conducted at Maplewood Cemetery Monday, 1 p.m.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Gelene Davis; his father, Clyde Randolph Davis; and his brother, Ricky Davis.
Surviving him is the love of his life, Rose, of 23 years; a special grandson who he loved like a son, James Saunders Jr., his wife, Karen; stepchildren who he loved like his own, Pam Cosby and husband, Robbie, Dino Wills, James Saunders, Joseph Saunders and wife, Niki, Amy Hornaday and husband, John, Joanna Wang and husband, Rocky; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren who he adored and loved; Mickey’s name sake was his grandson, Shayton Troy; and his special friends were his dogs, Fivel and May May.
Mickey worked at Joy Manufacturing, Hackney Brothers, Standard Commercial Tobacco Co. and Alliance One in Farmville. Mickey always loved the farm and wanted back on the tractor. He never met a stranger and had a heart as big as Texas.
A special thanks to Roger, Craig, Jimmy and Dean for the help given to Rose during Mickey’s illness. The nurses of United Hospice, Kim, Renee and Angie were so special and their support is so much appreciated. Also, thanks to others who are not named.
