Louise Simmons Gay

April 24, 1914 — July 17, 2012

Louise Simmons Gay, 98, of Wilson passed away Tuesday. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. The Rev. A.G. Smith will officiate.

The family will receive friends 1 to 2 p.m., Thursday, prior to the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway.

Louise is survived by her two daughters, Janet Mercer Pridgen of Wilson, and Hilda Farmer Rogerson and husband, Bill, of Robersonville; seven grandchildren, Gail Joyner and husband, Dean, Ray Mercer and wife, Mary Jo, Rhonda Mauldin and husband, Monty, Jamie Watson and husband, Ray, Andy Gay, Joe Gay and wife, Trish, Arlen Gay and wife, Jo Lynne; 11 great-grandchildren, Renee Vick, Lynn Garcia, Joe Gay, Jennifer Moore, Dawn Edmondson, Bryant Lee Watson, Brandon Mercer, Bradley Mercer, Austin Gay, Taylor Gay and Aidan Gay; seven great-great-grandchildren, Matt Vick, Caelan Hermon, Maddox Garcia, Jemma Edmondson, Kaelee Watson, Skyla Watson and Eli Moore; her sister, Elsie Bridgers of Wilson; and her two special friends, Ola Woodard and Helen Langley.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Arthur Gay; her son, Billy Gay; and her parents, Charlie and Martha Bullock Simmons.
