LUCAMA — Joseph Gideon Poythress Sr., 84, of 107 W. Spring St., died Thursday, June 14, 2012.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Shingleton Funeral Home with the Rev. Daniel Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Upper Black Creek Church Cemetery.
Mr. Poythress was preceded in death by two sons, Arthur Douglas Poythress and Donald Wayne Poythress.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Hamm Poythress of the home; sons, Joseph Poythress Jr. of Sims, Jimmy Poythress and R.J. Poythress, both of the home; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren; and special nieces, Shirley Serpico and Brenda Webb.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:30 until 8:30 at Shingleton Funeral Home.
