LITTLETON — Jimmy Ray Dildy, 78, of Dark Horse Farm, 191 Lees Point Drive died Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Dildy was born in Greene County the son of the late Robert Lee Dildy and Gertrude Galloway Dildy. He served in the U.S. Air Force and came to Roanoke Rapids in 1957 as a N.C. License Examiner. He was the former owner of Acme Chevrolet, Oldsmobile and Cadillac in Roanoke Rapids. He was a member of the Halifax County ABC Board.
He is survived by his wife, Chris Traylor Dildy; three daughters, Susan Smith and husband, Jason, of North Brook, Ill., Catherine Cardinale and husband, Patrick, of Willow Grove, Pa., and Brigitte Hale and husband, Kenny, of Littleton; three sisters, Julia McCullen and husband, R.E., of Seven Springs, Peggy Gay of Walstonburg and Janie Waters and husband, Claude, of Charlotte; a brother, Alvin Dildy of Wilson; three grandchildren, Cooper Smith of North Brook, Ill., Maggie Hale and Alex Hale, both of Raleigh; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, 3 p.m., in Littleton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Arthur Warren officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service at the residence.
