Jimmie Snider, 79, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m., in the Chapel of Shingleton Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Tedder officiating. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
Mr. Snider was a loving father and grandfather, who helped people in so many ways. He was a master mechanic and his hobbies were fishing and gardening.
Mr. Snider was a veteran of the Korean War where he served in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn Snider.
He is survived by a daughter, Shelby Morris and husband, Otha, of Wilson; sons, Jimmie Snider Jr. of Georgia, Tommy Earl Snider and wife, Mary, and Robert Terry Snider, all of Wilson; grandchildren, David Hicks, Robbie Snider, Steven Snider, Dillon Snider, Gary Whitley, Amanda Fellers, Stephanie Dempsey, Amy Dillon and Alexandra Snider; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Johnny Russell Snider of Halifax; special friend, Newman Parris; and special friend, almost like a daughter, Lisa Lamm.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:30 until 8:30 at Shingleton Funeral Home.
