Harvey L. Shirley, 88, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010. He was preceded in death by sisters, Ethel Wainwright and Ruby Miller; brother, Lloyd Shirley. He was a loving husband and father.
Mr. Shirley is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Shirley, of the home. Daughter, Linda Taylor of Wilson; brother, Earl Shirley and wife, Adelade, of Farmville; sisters, Velma Hendrix and husband, Willie, of Belhaven, Selma Bowen of Greenville; grandchildren, Glenn Taylor Jr. and wife, Wanda, Teresa Atkinson and husband, Rod, and Kimberly Spagnolo and husband, Chuck.
Harvey was a member of the Hookerton Masonic Lodge, a member of Community Bible Church in Hampton, Va. for over 40 years. He was a retired employee of Newport News Shipyard.
A graveside service will be held Friday, Sept. 3, 2010 at 2 p.m. in Evergreen Memorial Park with the Rev. Neal Ross officiating. The family will receive friends at their home, 4611 Pinehurst Drive, Wilson, NC following the service.
