Derwood Macon Mason Jr., 69, of Wilson passed away Monday. Memorial services will be conducted 1 p.m., Saturday, at Joyner’s Funeral Home. The Rev. Gary Walling will officiate.
The family will receive friends following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Pkwy., and other times at 5529 Shepherd Road, Wilson.
Mr. Mason served his country honorably with the U.S. Air Force.
Derwood is survived by his wife, Annie Lee Pittman Brigman Mason; three stepdaughters, Angelia Mildred Renee Merza and husband, Jose, of Alexandria, Va., Jacinda Rachel Dawn Richardson and husband, Timothy, of Roanoke Rapids and Teresa Sharmen Melina Bridgers and husband, Whit, of New Paris, Ohio; two stepsons, James Marshall Charles Brigman Jr. and wife, Debbie, of Manassas, Va. and John Kenneth Arthur Brigman of Roanoke Rapids; one brother, James “Jimmy” Mason of Louisa, Va.; three sisters, Marie Carper of Williamsburg, Va., Betty Thornburg of Chesapeake, Va. and Sarah Dickens of Jarvisburg; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Derwood Macon Mason Sr. and Louisa Monroe Mason.
