Two suspects caught hiding in bean field

Two men tried to elude Wilson County Sheriff's deputies by hiding in a bean field after deputies say they broke into a home on Jobe Road in Elm City.

The two men were taken into custody last week within minutes after deputies arrived on the scene and spotted them lying in the field.

Anthony Tramaine Walker, 17, of 100 Mildstone Court in Rocky Mount, and Alex Michael Mills, 17, of 4222 Chinook Road, were arrested and charged with felonious breaking and entering and felony larceny after breaking and entering.

According to the incident report, a neighbor called 911 to report seeing two males breaking into a residence at 7452 Jobe Road. When the deputy arrived he observed Walker and Mills running from the front of the house, their hands filled with items.

The deputy saw them run around the side of the house and into a bean field behind the home. A second deputy arrived on the scene, and the two deputies then approached the field and were able to take Walker and Mills into custody.

"The subjects made entry into the house through the side entrance door under the carport," the report said. "The subjects used a baseball bat to break a window to the door and then open the door gaining access to the inside of the home."

Walker and Mills were found with a chrome wrist watch, an X-Box game console, two X-Box game controllers, three X-Box video games, all with a value of approximately $350.

Both were arrested and placed in the Wilson County Jail under $7,500 secured bonds. As of Monday, both were still in custody.
