Monday, July 06, 2009 4:47 PM Town election filings trickle in By Antonio Velarde | Times Staff Writer Incumbent officials and political hopefuls in Wilson, Nash, Johnston and Wayne county towns have begun filing for this fall's elections. After filing closed at 5 p.m. Monday, three people had filed for commissioner and town council seats in Lucama and Nashville. In Lucama, incumbent Commissioner David A. Johnson and challenger Jimmie Blalock filed for three commissioners seats up for grabs. Johnson's seat is up for grabs along with R.A. Moreira and Jed Simpson's seats. Across the county line in Nashville, where two council seats are open, Thomas Rogers filed for re-election to his seat. Jacquelyn J. Wright has not filed to keep her seat. Filing for all seats opened Friday, though hopefuls could not file until Monday. The deadline for filing for office is July 17. Elections for most municipal offices is Nov. 3. Across the three counties, there are more than 40 municipal office seats up for grabs. There is also a fee for municipal elections filing: Black Creek: Mayor Howard Moore's seat, along with all five commissioners seats. They belong to Ellen Dawson, Elton Franks Jr., Roland Godwin, Roland Wayne Lucas and Ralph M. Smith Jr. $5 fee. Elm City: Mayor Grady N. Smith's seat and all five commissioners seats. They belong to Leslie T. Atkinson, Dale Childress, Melvin Cooke, Gil Wheeler and Ronald L. Williams. $10 to file for mayor's seat, $5 fee for others. Saratoga: Mayor Tommy Hawkins' seat, along with those of commissioners Michael L. Bass, Ronald McCormick and Elaine Saunders. $5 fee. Sims: Mayor Susan Evans' seat, along with those of commissioners Aydlett Eure, Kim Hartley, Dana Hewett, Raynell D. Rodgers and Ray Wells. $5 fee. Stantonsburg: Seats for commissioners Daniel Whitley, Robert Watson and Tommy Darden. $5 fee. Pikeville: Mayor Pro Tem Herb Sieger's seat, along with those of commissioners Lyman Galloway and Edith McClenny. $5 fee. Eureka: Mayor Pro Tem Steven Howell's seat, along with commissioner Billy Martin's seat and a vacant commissioner seat. $5 fee. Sharpsburg: Mayor Sheila R. Williams' seat, along with all five commissioners seats. They belong to Melvin T. Gibson, Becky Humphrey, Troy R. Jenkins, Debra Hamm and Randy L. Weaver. $5 fee. Bailey: Commissioners seats for Shelley B. Carroll and Judy Rogers. $5 fee. Middlesex: Mayor LuHarvey Lewis Jr.'s seat, along with commissioners seats belonging to Derek Bissette and Harold Meacomb. $10 fee to file for mayor's seat, $5 fee for others. Spring Hope: Mayor J.F. "Buddy" Gwaltney III's seat, along with those of commissioners Clyde Best, Ted Lee Bissett II and Marion Clark. $10 fee. Kenly: Mayor Herbert L. "Tooie" Hales II's seat, along with those of council members Scott Turik and Mark Smith. $10 to file for mayor's seat, $5 fee for others. Lucama is just a little Peyton Place . Moreira may mean well but he's too arrogant and liberal .

It sure look's like all of these comments were made at the same time that's FUNNY. Looks like something the LITTLE group of members would do that meet at 300 Main St alot and I am not talking about Mr.Simpson's house either. We may need a new board but not Jimmy & Ron think really hard before you vote because there are alot of stories being told.I go to the meetings please go for yourself.

There does need to be some changing in the town board, we also need a town administrator, we can only hope the residents in town vote for change. Vote for Ron and Jimmy !!
