STANTONSBURG
Stantonsburg United Methodist Church was chosen as the April Yard of the Month by the Stantonsburg Kiwanis Club.
The church was chosen for the honor because of its landscape and azaleas.
MIDDLESEX
A closed session that was scheduled to be held Monday to discuss employee performance evaluations has been rescheduled for next Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the town hall on South Nash Street.
SHARPSBURG
Sharpsburg commissioners will enter into a closed session to discuss personnel issues during their regular April meeting tonight. The commissioners must replace the town's head administrator, whose contract was not renewed and whose last day is June 30.
Also during the meeting, commissioners will discuss an employee hiring freeze that was instituted in March due to budget constraints.
The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. at the town hall on Railroad Street. For more information, call 252-446-9441, ext. 221.
NASH COUNTY
Nash Health Care's oncology program was recently awarded an Outstanding Achievement Award by the Commission on Cancer, making it one of 93 programs in the country and four in the state with the distinction, according to a media release.
The oncology services at the hospital include all aspects of cancer treatment at the hospital, including the Nash Cancer Treatment Center, the Nash General Hospital oncology unit and other services.
Nash Health Care recently a three-year accreditation from the American College of Surgeons.
