Town Talk for Tues, May 19

SHARPSBURG

Sharpsburg commissioners will have two meetings this week to discuss the town's 2009-10 FY budget.

Commissioners will hold their regular monthly meeting tonight at 6:30 in the town hall on Railroad Street, during which they will hold a discussion on the budget.

The town will also hold a budget workshop Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the town hall.

STANTONSBURG

The Town of Stantonsburg on May 7 held a welcoming reception for its newest local doctor.

Michael A. Smith joined the Wilson Medical Center staff at Stantonsburg Medical Center in February. Smith is a graduate of N.C. Central University and received his medical degree from the State University of New York, Buffalo.

SPRING HOPE

Spring Hope will soon be home to a branch of Faith Christian Ministries.

Elizabeth Polk, pastor of Gibson Memorial United Methodist Church in Spring Hope, said several area churches are working to convert an old NAPA Auto Parts building at 106 S. Ash St. into Faith Christian Ministries of Spring Hope, a branch of the Nashville location.

The branch, which she hopes will be open by late summer, will work with Faith Christian Ministries in offering emergency relief.

A local board of directors, made of area church representatives, will govern its operations.
