Brian Brantley, Nash County Emergency Services director, said initial reports show that the most severe damage in the county from the storm was in the Bailey and Middlesex areas, with the area northeast of Bailey having the worst damage. Reports so far indicate six homes were damaged, including a tenant house on Bloomery Road that was severely damaged and some mobile homes on Hornes Church Road that were moved from their foundation. An abandoned mobile home in Middlesex was also damaged. There were only minor injuries reported from the storm, and that one displaced family was seeking assistance from the American Red Cross. Brantley said officials beginning at about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday began getting damage reports, and that officials spotted at least six funnel clouds and two tornado touchdowns. Brantley said officials were headed out this morning to further assess the damage. For more information, read tomorrow's edition of The Wilson Times. |
