Friday, June 26, 2009 3:00 PM Tobacco Farm Life holds anniversary celebration this weekend Staff report The Tobacco Farm Life Museum in Kenly will be celebrating its 26th anniversary this weekend with special events Saturday and Sunday. The museum's annual anniversary celebration is its biggest event of the year and regularly draws big crowds to the museum, which recreates a turn-of-the-20th Century homestead and farm in eastern North Carolina. On Saturday, the museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and special events will include artist and traditional farm demonstrations, a tobacco tying contest, tobacco worm racing, book and art print signing, wagon rides, livestock pens, children's games, plenty of food and music on the main stage. Bands and other live entertainment who are scheduled to perform Saturday include the Neuse River Ramblers, Twisted Pines, Twin Pond Trio, The Wonder Band and the East Country Hoedowners, a traditional clogging team. Sunday the museum will be open from 2-4 p.m. and is being planned as an after-church gathering with gospel music being performed. In addition, there will be food, children's games and an antique car show judged by the public. On Sunday, the entertainment will include The Old Fiddle Case Band. Admission to the celebration is $5 for adults and $3 for children and seniors. A two day pass is $8 and $5 respectively. |
