Sandifer honored for teaching career

Kathy Sandifer, a retired teacher who has worked at North Johnston High School since 1986, was honored for her 35 years in education by the N.C. Association of Educators.

The Johnston County Board of Education presented Sandifer with a wooden clock gift with a plaque, and the faculty and staff of North Johnston High School in Kenly presented her with a luncheon and crystal clock containing a service inscription inside.

The event included a dinner at Becky's Log Cabin, a plaque for service and entertainment by the Johnston County Chorale.

Sandifer, who lives in Wilson and began teaching in Wilson at Coon Junior High School in 1973, has worked mainly in Johnston County with many age levels. She has taught at Corinth-Holders Elementary, Harrison Jr. High School, Johnston Community College and Smithfield-Selma High, in addition to North Johnston High School.

Sandifer now tutors and teaches piano lessons on a part-time basis.
