Wednesday, May 20, 2009 3:28 PM Mobile home fire called arson Gina Childress | Times Staff Writer Detectives with the Wilson County Sheriff's Office are investigating an arson that destroyed a vacant double-wide mobile home Tuesday night. Captain Danny Bailey of the sheriff's office said volunteer firefighters were called to the scene around 11:10 p.m. to battle the blaze. The property is owned by Charles Bledsoe, who has a post office box registered in Bailey, but he was not occupying the property, Bailey said. "There was no power to the double wide," Bailey said. "We are investigating this as an arson." Bailey said that the mobile home had been sitting vacant on the property for about a year and a half. "It wasn't in good shape," he said. "The weather and animals had gotten into it." Bailey said that about a week ago, neighbors reported seeing a company that sets up this type of home come out and put the home together. The tax value of the mobile home was listed at approximately $16,000, he said. Firefighters were on the scene until approximately 2 a.m. Bailey said they have found several addresses for Bledsoe and are trying to track him down to let him know that there was a fire, but so far had not been successful in their efforts. "He has addresses in Florida and Washington, D.C.," Bailey said. "He also works as a preacher." Bailey asks that anyone with any information regarding the fire contact him at 399-2860. "We want to talk to anyone who may have seen any activity on the property in the last week or so," he said. Also, anyone with any information can call Wilson Crime Stoppers at 243-2255. In order to be eligible for any potential reward money, the caller must leave their contact information. gina@wilsontimes.com | 265-7821 |
