Miller delegate for Senior Tar Heel Legislature

Wilson resident Sally Miller represented Wilson County as a delegate for the N.C. Senior Tar Heel Legislature.

The organization promotes citizen involvement and advocacy concerning aging issues before the General Assembly and assesses the legislative needs of older adults.

The STHL meets three times annually and establishes priorities for upcoming years.

The organization met June 10 and decided to focus on providing funding to sustain Caregiver Alternatives to Running on Empty, a program providing help to caregivers of those afflicted with Alzheimer's disease, increasing funding for home and community-based services for older adults, and increasing funding for senior centers by an additional $2 million, among others goals.
