Around 12:16 a.m., The Wilson County Sheriff's Office received a call about the alarm going off in the school. Deputy Pedro Cazares and a Black Creek police officer responded and began checking the perimeter of the building. Major John Farmer of the Sheriff's Office said that when Cazares reached the area where the lunchroom was located he saw a tall, slender Hispanic juvenile male standing in the cafeteria. "When he saw the deputy he took off and ran out of the back of the gym," Farmer said. "After a brief chase, he was taken into custody by Cazares." Farmer said the juvenile, who was a resident in the Black Creek area, told officers that there was a second subject still inside of the school. K-9 officer K. Johnson from the Wilson Police Department was dispatched and a search was performed. After speaking with the juvenile further, he admitted that he committed the break-in alone and that he did it to see what he could steal, Farmer said. No reportable damage was listed on the report. Farmer said that a juvenile petition would be filed against the young man for his actions. |

Great Job to all of those officers involved. To give credit where credit is due....Officer Cazares chased the suspect and another officer (Andrew Smith) tackled the suspect and then he was placed under arrest. Officer Anthony was the K-9 handler who was involved in the search. I just needed to add a couple of minor corrections/additions to make sure all officers are acknowledged for their efforts. Thank you Gina for writing this article.
