Friday, June 26, 2009 5:00 PM Greenfield student serves in Governor's Page Program From Staff Reports Robert Paul Stallings, a student at The Greenfield School, spent the week of June 15-19 serving as a North Carolina governor's page in Raleigh for the Office of State Budget and Management. Stallings is the son of Paul and Marilyn Stallings of Wilson. The Governor's Page Program gives students the opportunity to experience the state government first-hand by attending press conferences, meeting with the governor and assisting in day-to-day procedures. The pages perform tasks such as filing documents, assisting in mass mailings, answering telephones and delivering agency messages. The Governor's Page Program is open to high school students between the ages of 15 and 18. Application forms are available year-round, but appointments are first-come-first-serve. For an application or additional information contact the program coordinator toll free at 1-800-820-4483, or visit the program online at www.volunteernc.org/code/govpage.htm. Kristin Howe |
