Family gives scholarships

A large family gathering in Wilson Saturday paid off for two recent high school graduates.

The Daniels-Lynn family awarded $1,000 college scholarships to two attendees: Ashton Williams of Carrellton, Va., who will be attending the University of Virginia this fall, and Kyre Daniels of Newark, N.J., who will be attending Kean College in Union, N.J.

Williams was grateful for the assistance, he said. "It is an honor."

This is the second time the family has awarded scholarships, said Carrie Lynn of Wilson. The first time, in 2000, was in memory of Isiah Daniels Sr. and Mary Hines Daniels.

Around 150 people attended the reunion on Baybrook Place, near Lake Wilson. The occasion also marked the 37th wedding anniversary of the hosts, Carrie and Richard Ernest Lynn.
