Emory renamed County BOC chair

Wilson County commissioners reorganized its board Monday night with no changes.

Each December the board has to reorganize pursuant to the N.C. General Assembly.

Frank Emory was renamed chairman of the board, with Commissioner Sid Boyette remaining vice chairman.

Ellis Williford was reappointed county manager; George Weaver, county attorney; Denis Stinagle, clerk to the board; and Melissa Parrish and Williford, assistant clerks to the board. The board also approved its public official bonds.

In other business, the board approved:

* Property tax exemptions for Jackson Chapel First Baptist Church and the Wilson Woman's Club.

* The subdivision Orchard Trail, section 3, which is eight lots on Scuppernong Road, west of the intersection with Wellons Court in Black Creek.

* Calling a meeting Jan. 5 to discuss a request for a special use permit to open a night club at 4610 U.S. 301 South.

* A capital reserve amendment resolution to provide $2,525,867 for post-closure of the Wilson County Landfill. The county has $3,381,273 in reserves.
