Monday, June 29, 2009 4:15 PM Dunlap receives transfer scholarship By Stephanie Creech | Times Senior Writer Kia Nicole Dunlap of Wilson, a transfer student from Philadelphia Community College, is the recipient of the Transfer High Honors Scholarship at Barton College. The renewable scholarship will cover $3,000 of tuition for the year. Dunlap is the wife of Carlton Applewhite Jr. of Wilson and the daughter of Clinton Culberson Sr. of Philadelphia and the late Reatha Mae Dunlap. She will enter Barton in the fall and plans to major in criminal justice and criminology. The Transfer High Honors Scholarship is awarded to students who have been extremely successful during their previous college or university experience. This award honors their achievements and promotes continued academic success. To receive this scholarship, the recipient must have a minimum 3.20 transferable college grade point average. A 3.0 GPA must be maintained to retain the scholarship each additional year. In addition to keeping up their GPA, students must maintain satisfactory academic progress and be enrolled continuously on a full-time basis. |
