Driver pulls in truck's path

A tractor trailer collided with a van Sunday shortly before 1 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 301 and N.C. 581, sending four people to Wilson Medical Center for treatment.

Shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon, Marvin Kenan, 84, drove into the path of a tractor trailer.

According to the Trooper G. Barnes of the N.C. Highway Patrol, Kenan pulled in front of the tractor trailer operated by Horace Staton and owned by Capital Atlantic Transit in Sims.

Staton, Kenan and his two passengers, Patsy Kenan and Susan Herbster, were treated and released in the emergency room at Wilson Medical Center.

Traffic at the intersection was blocked for about an hour and a half while the accident was cleared.

Kenan was charged with failing to yield the right of way.
