And for those who love old school music, The Pride of Wilson Lodge 484 is planning a party with a purpose. A concert, "Puttin' On the Hits," will be held at the Darden Alumni Center on Lipscomb Road Friday from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m. Tickets are $5. This year all of the money raised will go to N.C. Love In Action, which gives emergency money for food, clothing and rent to Wilson residents. This is the lodge's fifth year having the fundraiser. Members of the lodge will be impersonating stars from the past like David Ruffin and the Temptations, The Whispers, Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles, The O'Jays, and many more. "We do the steps and sing the songs people love, like 'My Girl' and 'Wish It Would Rain,'" said James Phelps, member of the lodge. "It's fun for people because they love those groups from the past. They sing along and just have a great time." janet@wilsontimes.com | 265-7847 |
