Timothy Hayman, 46, of Bailey was sentenced to 19 years and six months in federal prison after he pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute 50 grams or more of crack cocaine and cocaine. On November 6, a federal grand jury returned an indictment against Hayman. On November 17, he entered a guilty plea with respect to the charges. According to the press release, the investigation into Hayman's alleged actions revealed in 2004 he delivered approximately 364 grams of crack cocaine. Then on July 3, 2006, a deputy with the Wilson County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop on a car which Hayman was driving and found 2.2 grams of crack in his possession. In 2007, he sold at least one kilogram of crack cocaine between January and December. Hayman's arrest and subsequent conviction is part of "Operation Cold Wind" that began in 2006. The operation was initiated to target mid-level drug traffickers in both Wilson and Nash Counties. During the operation approximately 40 people have been charged and sentenced. |
