Election 2008

Democrats praise Hagan

By Matt Shaw | Staff Writer

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee saluted Kay Hagan this week after her win in N.C. Democratic primary.

"Kay Hagan has already shown in the legislature that she can be a leader for North Carolina and over the past few months she has shown on the campaign trail that she has what it takes to win in November," said U.S. Sen. Charles E. Schumer, the committee's chairman.

"Kay is smart, energetic and dedicated to making people's lives better, and as voters get to know her better over the next six months they will see that she can bring the change to Washington that the country needs," he said.

A recent poll found that Hagan trails U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole by only seven points, 48-41 percent. The same poll found that 44 percent of North Carolinians view Dole favorably and 41 percent unfavorably.
