Renfrow-Bissette
Sallie Crosby Bissette and Andy Wade Renfrow, both of Raleigh, were married Aug. 22 in Buckhorn United Methodist Church. The 4 p.m. ceremony was officiated by the bride's great-uncle, the Rev. Lester C. Bissette, who also married the bride's parents on Aug. 25, 1974.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Davison Bissette Jr. of Buckhorn. She is the granddaughter of Doris Crosby Bissette of Wilson and the late John D. Bissette and the late Mr. and Mrs. Berry C. Boykin. A graduate of Hunt High School and East Carolina University with a bachelor's degree in health information management, she is pursuing master's degrees in business administration and health care administration from Pfeiffer University. She is employed by Duke University as a compliance auditor.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Earl Renfrow of Sims and Karen Sue Renfrow of New Bern. He is the grandson of Alice Dilda of New Bern and the late Charles Dilda, and Mr. and Mrs. William Bass of Wilson and the late Mr. and Mrs. Anderson Wade Renfrow. He attended Wilson Christian Academy and is serving the North Carolina National Guard as a member of the 1132nd Military Police Company and is on special assignment in Raleigh.
Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents and brothers, the bride wore a white satin A-line gown with a chapel train adorned with beaded lace on tulle overlay. The gown was styled with an empire bodice accented with a pool ribbon adorned in the center by a multifaceted blue brooch that belonged to the bride's beloved "Granny" and namesake, the late Sallie Boykin. Her mother embellished her shoes with ECU purple and gold ribbon laces with pirate head appliques.
The bride wore her mother's cathedral veil of imported silk illusion accented with floral appliques and pearls. She also wore her mother's pearl necklace, given to her by the bride's father for their wedding day and the pearl earrings given to her by the groom as a wedding gift.
She carried a hand-tied bouquet of white and stargazer lilies, pink sweetheart roses in memory of the bride's grandmother, and yellow lilies in memory of the groom's fellow soldiers who lost their lives while deployed to Iraq. The stems were wrapped in white ribbon accented by the lace bonnet the bride wore home from the hospital at her birth.
Matron of honor was LaSonya Barnes of Laurinburg.
She wore a pool long jersey dress styled with a one-shoulder, charmeuse bodice and cascade back.
Bridesmaids were Kimberly Bissette of Plymouth, sister in law of the bride, Ashley Skinner and Kristie Zapf of Wilson, Lisa Smith of Greenville, and Kimberly Meyer of Chapel Hill.
The attendants wore pool cotton sateen strapless dresses with ruching accented at the waist with a yellow or pink sash.
Flower girl was Haley Renfrow of Stantonsburg, daughter of the groom. She wore a tea-length pool ball gown accented with a yellow bow sash.
Jimmie Renfrow and Robert Price of Raleigh were best men.
Groomsmen were brother of the groom Jeremy Renfrow of Wilson, Robert Tabares and Adam Garrity of Raleigh, Niles Serls III of Norlina, and brothers of the bride John "Jay" Bissette III of Raleigh and Douglas Bissette of Plymouth.
Ring bearer was Braxton Wade Renfrow of Stantonsburg, son of the groom.
An Arch of Sabers ceremony was performed following the wedding by Cpt. John Soto, SFC Tommy Brown, SSG Rodney Creason and SSG Errick Morris.
Mr. and Mrs. Steve A. Homza of Greenville served as the register attendants.
Paige Quinn of Raleigh was program attendant.
Wedding director was Linda H. Johnson of Wilson.
Vocalists were Mr. and Mrs. James Powers. Pianist was Amanda Serina.
Following the ceremony, a reception was hosted by the bridal couple and the bride's parents at Willow Springs Country Club. Greeters were Mrs. Jim Hawley and Mrs. Woody Wilson.
On the eve of the ceremony, a rehearsal dinner was held in the church fellowship hall. Hosts were Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Earl Renfrow, parents of the groom.
A bridesmaid luncheon was held at Something Different Aug. 15. Hostesses were Doris Bissette, grandmother of the bride; Lib Winborne and Jeannie Smith, aunts of the bride; and Jennifer Langston and Lindsey Winborne, cousins of the bride.
Upon returning from a honeymoon cruise to the Western Caribbean, the couple resides in Raleigh.
