LUCAMA -- Lauren Beth Peele and Matthew Chris Hayes, both of Wilson, exchanged wedding vows June 27 at Little Rock Original Free Will Baptist Church. Dr. De Wayne Eakes and Rev. LaVon Phillips officiated at the 3 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Richard and Carolyn Peele of Wilson. She is the granddaughter of Doris Godwin of Lucama and the late Roy Godwin, and Rose Peele of Selma and the late Robert Peele. She graduated from Hunt High School and received her bachelor of science degree in elementary education from East Carolina University. She is employed by Johnston County Schools as a second-grade teacher at Micro-Pine Level School.

The bridegroom is the son of Danny and Teresa Hayes of Wilson. He is the grandson of Lee Holland of Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hayes of Kenly, the late Nell Hayes of Wilson, and the late Bobby Beamon of Kinston. He graduated from Community Christian School and received his degree in basic law enforcement from Wilson Community College. He is a deputy with the Wilson County Sheriff's Office.

Escorted by her father, the bride chose for her wedding a white satin A-line gown with a chapel train fashioned with a split-front overskirt and adorned with embroidery.

Her fingertip-length veil with scattered crystals and the pearls was worn by the bride's sister on her wedding day.

The bride carried a bouquet of red roses.

Matron of honor was Dana Peele Ash of Wilson, sister of the bride.

Bridesmaids were Rebecca Barnes of Greenville, April Horton of Fountain, Elizabeth Bean of Greenville and Kristen Hayes of Wilson, sister-in-law of the bridegroom.

Katie Marie Ash of Wilson, niece of the bride, was flower girl.

Best man was the bridegroom's father.

Groomsmen were Ryan Hayes of Wilson, brother of the bridegroom; Cam Ash of Wilson, brother-in-law of the bride, and Jeremy Godwin of Wilson, cousin of the bride.

Ushers for the wedding were Daniel Johnson, Will Mayo and Ryan Godwin, all of Wilson.

Jalen Hayes of Wilson, nephew of the bridegroom, was ring bearer.

Register attendant was Sarah Rowe.

Shaina Adkins was program attendant.

The ceremony was directed by Mary Belle Johnson.

Wedding music was provided by organist Sally Davis and vocalists Michele Thurman and the Rev. Timothy Hurt.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Wilson County Agricultural Center. The event was hosted by the bride's parents.

On the eve of the ceremony, the parents of the bridegroom gave a rehearsal party at Willow Springs Country Club in Wilson.

On the morning of the wedding, a men's breakfast was held honoring the bridegroom at The Country Restaurant. Hosts were the bridegroom's parents.

Following their return from a honeymoon in Charleston, S.C., the couple will reside in Wilson.



PRE-NUPTIAL EVENTS

April 5: A shower was held at Farmington Heights. The event was hosted by the bridegroom's family and friends.

April 26: The bride's family hosted a shower at Little Rock Church.

May 29: A handyman shower was given by the bridegroom's parents.

June 4:Co-workers of the bride at Micro-Pine Level School hosted a shower.

June 20: A bridal luncheon was held at The Legacy in Elm City. Host was the bride's mother and sister, Carolyn Peele and Dana Ash.
