Gillespie-Vick
BEAUFORT -- Katherine Elizabeth Vick and William Mendenhall Gillespie, both of Charlotte, exchanged wedding vows June 21 at Ann Street United Methodist Church. Dr. William L. Hawkins officiated at the 4 p.m. ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Michael Vick of Wilson. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Kelly Vick of Raleigh and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Edward Leggett of Hobgood. She graduated from Fike High School and received her bachelor of arts from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is manager of internal communication at Presbyterian Healthcare.
The bridegroom is the son of Martha Mendenhall Gillespie of Mebane and Carter Bouldin Gillespie of Greensboro. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Edwin Gillespie of Greensboro and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Delacy Mendenhall of Greensboro. He graduated from Eastern Alamance High School in Mebane and received his bachelor of science in communication from Appalachian State University. He works in patient relations at Presbyterian Healthcare.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless ivory satin gown designed by Casablanca Bridal. The bodice featured a sweetheart neckline with hand beading that continued onto the entire back skirt of the gown and down the semi-cathedral train.
The bride wore a veil of illusion with scalloped edging and delicate beading and carried a hand-tied bouquet of pink and white roses.
The bride also wore pave diamond earrings, a gift from her parents.
Maid of honor was Lillian Margareta Barfield of Thomasville.
Bridesmaids were Sarah Bouldin Gillespie of Washington, D.C., sister of the groom; Stephanie Lynn Gunter of Chicago, Ill.; Anne Moore Leggett of Wilmington, cousin of the bride; Tiffany Vick Puckett of Las Vegas, Nev., cousin of the bride; and Kirsten Anne Valle of Charlotte.
The bridesmaids wore strapless A-line gowns in lipstick silk shantung designed by Siri. The knee-length dresses featured an empire waist with vertical rouching on the bodice and a chocolate empire sash.
Junior bridesmaids were Madison Taylor Vick of Wilson, niece of the bride, and Anna Taylor King of Charlotte. They wore knee-length, sleeveless dresses of lipstick silk shantung with a chocolate empire sash.
The attendants carried hand-tied bouquets of green fuji mums, pink gerbera daisies and white hydrangeas.
Abigail Bailey Vick of Wilson, niece of the bride, was flower girl. She wore a sleeveless gown of ivory satin featuring a lipstick sash in silk shantung and a ball gown skirt. She wore a halo of small white roses and carried a small nosegay of white roses.
Best man was the bridegroom's father.
Groomsmen were Brian Thomas Edmundson of Raleigh, Brian Mitchell Graves of Burlington, Gary Bradford Moore Jr. of Charlotte, the bridegroom's cousin, Thomas Kelly Vick II of Wilson, the bride's brother, and Dustin Jeb Wright of Miller's Creek.
Ring bearer was Andrew Brian Vick of Raleigh, cousin of the bride.
Little Leggett Shuford of Greensboro, aunt of the bride, served as register attendant.
Program attendant was Skylar Elizabeth Shuford of Greensboro, cousin of the bride.
Scripture readers were Brian Summerfield Vick of Raleigh, cousin of the bride, and Donald Edwin Gillespie of Greensboro, grandfather of the bridegroom.
Allison Bernauer of Beaufort directed the ceremony.
Wedding music was provided by organist Kandice Davis of Beaufort, trumpeter Joe McCreary of Beaufort and vocalist Hassle Brown Lawrence of Farmville.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at The Country Club of the Crystal Coast in Pine Knoll Shores. Hosts were the bride's parents.
On the eve of the ceremony, the bridegroom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at The North Carolina Aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores.
On the day of the wedding, a bridesmaids' breakfast was held at Floyd's 1921 in Morehead City. Hostesses were Beverly Boyette, Amy Barfield, Sally Davis, Cathy Sullivan, Linda Pittman, Little Shuford, Vikki Tillman and Jennifer Williamson.
Since their return from a honeymoon on Okracoke Island, the couple resides in Charlotte.
PRE-NUPTIAL EVENTS
An engagement party was hosted on Oct. 20, 2007 by friends of the bride and bridegroom at the home of Bill and Stephanie Tarbell in Charlotte.
Peggy Anderson, Marsha Eatmon, Rose Marie Gillikin, Janice Batts and Annette Flowers hosted a bridal shower on March 1 at the Eagle Farm Clubhouse in Wilson.
Lyn Maness, Robin Stiles, and Kathy Walker hosted a high tea bridal shower at the O'Henry Hotel in Greensboro on March 29.
A bridal shower was held May 4 at Pine Lake Country Club in Charlotte. Hosts were Rita Leggett, aunt of the bride, Jan Ledermann, and Anne Leggett, cousins of the bride,
Bridesmaids and friends of the bride hosted a bachelorette party in Charlotte on May 23.
The bride's co-workers hosted a breakfast and shower in honor of the bride and bridegroom on June 6.
Dr. Wells Edmundson and Mrs. Jan Swanson, Erin Edmundson, Brian Edmundson, and Martha and Sarah Gillespie hosted a post-wedding brunch on June 22 at the Edmundson's home in Pine Knoll Shores.
