Colliers celebrate 50th anniversary

Earnest and Jean Collier of Black Creek celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, June 7, with a reception at the Arts Council of Wilson. Family and friends of the Colliers assisted with the reception.

Mrs. Collier's nephew, Dr. David Daniel of Kingsville, Maryland, played the piano at the celebration as he did at the couple's wedding 50 years ago at the age of 12. Assisting on the piano and singing were Mrs. Collier's niece and her husband, Diana and Barry Page of Wilson.

Attending were 128 guests, many of whom were also guests at the wedding 50 years ago.

Mr. Collier owned and operated Collier Plumbing Company for 20 years during which time Mrs. Collier served as office manager and bookkeeper. Both retired in 1995.

Mr. Collier was raised in Lucama, and Mrs. Collier, the former Jean Daniel, resided in the Black Creek community.

The couple was married on June 7, 1959.
