Brewer celebrated 100th birthday


Lucinda Brewer celebrated her 100th birthday Oct. 3 with a party held at Brian Center, where she resides.

Brewer was born Oct. 3, 1909, in Greene County and is the daughter of the late Ada Catherine Dail Bass and William Henry Bass, with seven sisters and one brother.

She attended a one-room school in Walstonburg and Winstead School for one year. She later attended New Hope School.

She married Selby Brewer Sr. on June 13, 1927. They were married for 50 years before his death, and they had three daughters and two sons. She has eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She is a member of New Hope Baptist Church and enjoys her company and relaxing.
